Intended Use: Xenical is used in conjunction with a low-calorie diet improve weight loss in individuals who are considerably overweight persons lose weight. Xenical also aids in the prevention of regaining weight already lost.
Using Xenical: Xenical is taken orally three times per day while consuming (or after consuming) a meal containing fat. Evenly distribute your consumption of protein, carbohydrate, and fat over breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The dose of Xenical should be skipped if you miss a meal or consume a meal that doesn’t contain any fat. Xenical can nullify your ability to absorb vitamins that are fat soluble (for example, A.D.E.K.); it is recommended that you take a multivitamin supplement containing these nutrients. The multivitamin should be taken at least 2 hours prior to or 2 hours after taking Xenical. Xenical may take effect in only 1-2 days after dosing begins; it will take longer to achieve weight loss that is noticeable.
Potential Xenical Side Effects: Potential side effects of Xenical may include: urgency of bowel movements, stool that is fatty/oily, oily spotting, gas that includes discharge, headaches, or reduced bowel control. Inform your physician immediately if Xenical side effects are persistent or become worse over time. Be careful not to exceed your daily dietary fat allowance because of the potential for intensified/increased in intestinal side effects. Inform your physician or pharmacist if you encounter side effects not listed here.
Xenical Precautions: Inform your physician of your complete medical history prior to taking Xenical. Especially if any of the following conditions exist: over-active thyroid, glaucoma, emotional problems, diabetes or high blood pressure. Use Xenical with caution, as it can be habit forming. Dizziness can increase if alcohol is consumed, so limit your use of alcohol. Xenical is not recommended for children. For additional information, consult your physician or pharmacist. During pregnancy, Xenical should only be taken when needed. Consult your physician for more information about the benefits and risks. Because Xenical may be excreted in breast milk, it may be necessary to stop using Xenical or stop nursing. Before breast-feeding, inform your physician.
Potential Xenical Interactions: Your physician should be given a comprehensive list of the prescription and non-prescription medication you are using. It is especially important to tell your doctor if you are taking: MAO inhibitors, high blood pressure medication, or additional medication for weight loss. Decongestants, drugs, or other stimulants that potentially increase heart rate should be avoided. Receive approval from your physician or pharmacist before starting or stopping any medication.
In Case of Overdose: If you believe you have overdosed on Xenical, immediately contact a local emergency room or poison control office. Symptoms potentially associated with an overdose: diarrhea/ nausea/vomiting, stomach pains, unconsciousness, chest pains, weakness in muscles, dizziness, fever, restlessness, irregularly slow or fast heart beat, rapid breathing, drowsiness, paranoia or panic, confusion, headaches, agitation, enlarged pupils, delusions, sweating, flushing or paleness, convulsions, or hallucinations.
Notes About Xenical: Xenical should not be shared with others. Use Xenical in conjunction with your reduced calorie diet. Monitoring of side effects can occur through laboratory tests as well as pulse and blood pressure measurements.
In Case You Miss a Dose: If you have missed a dose of Xenical, you should not double your next dose. Simply skip the dose you missed and then continue with your regular scheduled doses.
Storing Xenical: Xenical should be kept away from moisture and sunlight. Store Xenical at room temperature. Xenical should not be store d in your bathroom.
