Intended Use: Tenuate is an appetite suppressant designed for short-term obesity management. Tenuate should be combined with exercise, behavior therapy, and diet.

Using Tenuate: Take Tenuate about 30-60 minutes prior to eating. Your final daily dose should be taken four to six hours before bedtime. When using Tenuate, you must follow your physician’s instructions.

Potential Tenuate Side Effects: Tenuate side effects may include the following (note: side effects may disappear during treatment): dry mouth, problems with sleeping, or restlessness/nervousness. If Tenuate side effects persist, contact your physician. Contact your physician or pharmacist if you experience side effects not listed here.

Tenuate Precautions: Do not exceed the recommended dose or take Tenuate longer than your prescription dictates without the approval of your physician; serious side effects may results. Do not miss doctor or laboratory appointments while you are using Tenuate. Get permission from your physician before starting any new prescription or non-prescription medication. Do not operate a motor vehicle or machinery, or participate in dangerous activities until you have gauged your reactions to Tenuate. Prior to any medical or dental procedures, let your physician or dentist know that you are taking Tenuate.

For Nursing Women: Tenuate is excreted in breast milk. Contact your physician or pharmacist to discuss potential risks to your baby if breast-feeding while using Tenuate.

In Case of Overdose: If you believe you have overdosed on Tenuate, immediately contact a local emergency room or poison control office. Rapid breathing, stomach cramping, tremors, diarrhea, nausea/vomiting and restlessness are common overdose symptoms.

Potential Tenuate Interactions: Certain medication or conditions may adversely interact with Tenuate. Provide your physician or pharmacist with a complete list of all prescriptions and over-the-counter medications you are currently taking. You should not use Tenuate if you are currently using: guanethidine, guanadrel, furazolidone, or MAOI inhibitors. You should let your physician know if you have any other medical conditions, including pregnancy, breast feeding, or allergies. Tenuate is not recommended for individuals who have a history of hyperthyroidism, atherosclerosis, heart disease, high blood pressure, brain or spinal cord disorders, or glaucoma. Your physician or pharmacist can answer any of your questions or concerns about using Tenuate.

Notes About Tenuate: Tenuate is not to be shared with others and should not be used to treat other health problems/conditions. Keep out of the reach of children.

In Case You Miss a Dose: If you have missed a dose of Tenuate, take your dose immediately. However, if it is later than 4 pm, skip your missed dose. Take the next dose as part of your regular dosing schedule. Two doses of Tenuate should not be taken at once.

Storing Tenuate: Tenuate should be kept from light and heat. Store Tenuate in a tightly-closed container at room temperature, away from heat and light.
